Firmware Upgrades

In general, firmware upgrades will be provided at no cost (except for shipping, if applicable) for units purchased within the past 90 calendar days. If more than 90 calendar days has elapsed since the purchase of your unit, the cost is $35.00.

**If your unit is running firmware version 2.01 or older and you would like to upgrade it to a newer version, the unit must be sent to IPCopper, Inc. for the upgrade. In this circumstance, customer pays shipping costs and additional retrofit fees may apply. Please contact IPCopper, Inc. ahead of time to make arrangements.**

To request a firmware upgrade you will need to know the serial number of your unit. A copy of your receipt or invoice showing the date of purchase will also be required if requesting a free firmware upgrade within 90 days of purchase. Download firmware upgrade request form.

It is recommended that you discard/destroy your old key after receiving the new key with the upgraded firmware. Using a key with old firmware after upgrading to new firmware may damage the data stored on the unit and/or render the unit unusable.

General Installation Instructions

1. Insert key.
2. Connect Ethernet cables.
3. Connect power cable.
4. Press power button*.

*Please note that some units, such as the USC6042, boot up automatically once power is connected and it will not be necessary to press the power button.

General Troubleshooting

Error light is on.

1. Try restarting the unit (press the reset button). This will re-boot the unit and in most cases clear the error.
2. Try changing the power cable and/or electrical outlet and reboot the appliance.
3. Try changing all Ethernet cables and re-booting the appliance.
4. Try disconnecting all Ethernet cables and re-booting the unit.

If the error light persists after three or four attempts to re-boot the unit, changing cables and changing the power source, there may be a problem with the unit's hard drive or other internal parts. Please contact technical support for further assistance.

I am trying to boot up my unit, but nothing is happening.

1. Make sure the power cable is connected securely at both ends.
2. Try using a different electrical outlet.
3. Try using a different surge protector or UPS (uninterruptible power supply).
4. Try using a different power cable.

If none of the above makes a difference, please contact technical support for further assistance. If you have recently experienced power fluctuations, such as power spike due to a recent storm, some of the appliance's internal components may have been affected. It is highly recommended that the appliance always be connected to power using a surge protector or UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for protection against power spikes, surges or other fluctuations in the electrical grid. Just like any other computer or electrical equipment, the appliance's internal components can be affected by fluctuations in the electrical grid and rendered nonfunctional.
